Stair Lifts
Stair lifts are the lifts that allow disabled users to travel freely between floors in a variety of buildings. They are very popular as an installation in the home of a disabled person, as they allow freedom and ease of travel, and minimise the restrictions and dependence upon others that would often be imposed without the aid of a stair lift or other form of disabled transport. They can be made to fit straight staircases, curved staircases or even outdoor staircases to allow the user maximum freedom and access in a variety of locations. Many buildings have them installed, as it is required by law to provide some form of disabled access in a public building. It is often difficult to justify the installation of a passenger lift or other form of transport, so a stair lift is an ideal cost effective solution.
Stair lifts are commonly found in care homes or hospitals or other buildings with many disabled visitors. They aren’t so commonly found in a number of other buildings, and this is unfortunate as it restricts the access to disabled users and means they are hindered by their disability. It is important to have some form of lift or disabled access installed to meet government requirements and to allow disabled users the utmost freedom within a building, and to make sure their disability affects their quality of life as little as possible.
